Nurse RN Forum – Want to leave nursing, advice please: [QUOTE who=”Dylan1630 in Washington, Pen…
I just want to say I have been a nurse since I was 20, and 4 months into working I knew I needed out. I’m 23 now, and I am in great physical shape, work out regularly, but I have developed bad Lower back pain. It’s been there 24/7 for about a year now. This career is mentally, physically, and emotionally draining. I finally figured out something that I would rather do and just started college (again) this week for my bachelors in accounting. I will have to work full time while I’m doing this, it is 100% online, but it’s a lot of work. I knew if I didn’t do something now I might wind up stuck in this poor career. You really don’t understand how bad it is until you get into it. I advise anyone even considering it to PLEASE do something other than nursing.
Dylan, thank you for sharing your experience. I’m sorry you had to go through this. Nursing school and nursing jobs are hectic. That’s why it tell people why rush to spend 60K in debt because you want to “finish early” then be stuck with a job you may not like or may want to quit but guess what the loans are STILL DUE. I rather go to an inexpensive school at your pace and graduate debt free. I am a lpn going to rn program and i already do not want to be a nurse. its just for security purposes. your health and body is wayyy more important. glad you got out early :)
