Nurse RN Forum – ADVICE ON BECOMING RN: Ok so here is the facts; I attended scho…

Ok so here is the facts; I attended school 18-20 and dropped most of the classes[MAJOR DEPRESSION] and received a W in most of them. However, there are some classes i went through and did not apply myself, so my gpa is probably a D at best. Yes i know how bad that is but i had a host of issues. Now at age 25 i am more mature and more driven than ever before and Nursing seems like a good fit for me. I want to help people, the health field is fascinating to me, learning what i will about it seems like an amazing life to me. My plan is to get certified as a CNA and go back to school for TWO semesters and take classes that are relevant to nursing like physiology and anatomy[CLASSES THAT ARE NOT REQUIRED FOR NURSING WOULD BE DISREGARDED BUT A GOOD GPA WILL HELP ME GET ADMITTED; ALSO CLASSES TAKEN PREVIOSLY WITH A LOW GPA WILL BE DISREGARDED AS WELL BUT NURSING IS COMPETITIVE AND I WANT TO BE COMPETITION] BIOLOGY, ANd any health related class i can. I would be 26 1/2 if accepted and i have no problem with that. As far as a bachelors is concerned i would lie to join the workforce asap and pursue higher education, so a bachelors could be obtained between 5-9 years but i think that would help me prove i want to better my self in this field while working as a nurse [hopefully]. Any advice from RN’s out there? Any comments from anybody would be a big help also. thanks!!! PS: WAS ARRESTED TWICE AT 22 FOR VIOLATION IN NYS-MARIJUANA CONVICTION THAT WAS SEALED AFTER ACOD- I HOPE THIS DOES NOT DQ ME FROM JOBS BUT STILL FINDING OUT-NO I DO NOT SMOKE WEED anymore AND HAVE NOT FOR A WHILE.
